CMI CEO Dr. Emad Eddien Hussein Presents A Working Paper at the International Sustainability Conference
The International Sustainability Conference was held recently in Abu Dhabi on 2 – 3 June 2013 under the auspices of His Highness Mohamed bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and in the presence of over 40 local and intentional participant bodies. Dr. Emad Eddien Hussein, CEO of Corporate Excellence Masters International (CMI) presented a working paper entitled "The Relationship between Excellence and Sustainability – Case Study of EFQM European Excellence Model".
Throughout his paper, Dr. Emad Eddien Hussein shed light on the concepts and criteria of excellence as well as on how to benefit from such concepts and criteria being enablers of sustainability in the entities that seek sustainable success and excellence for their results. He highlighted the significant role the EFQM Excellence model can perform in consolidating the endeavor towards achieving the priorities of national sustainability. Dr. Emad Eddien Hussein indicated that such concepts and corporate enablers could achieve sustainable excellence whenever applied effectively and in a systematic manner. Thus, variant national institutions and bodies could achieve more success in putting into effect the state leadership's wise vision of the concept of sustainability in both the government and private entities.
Dr. Emad Eddien Hussein touched upon the significance of environment protection as part of the very concept of sustainability.
Dr. Hussein also emphasized that the comprehensive concept of sustainability goes far beyond environmental aspects to incorporate social sustainability and the achievement of a type of corporate sustainability in a manner that lays the foundations of economic sustainability and development of economic resources and enablers. Dr. Emad Eddien Hussein pointed out to the importance of cooperation between the entities concerned with sustainability and the Global Reporting (GRI) throughout sustainability reports. He highly valued the cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group and GRI towards the fulfillment of the objectives of sustainability proficiently and effectively.
Highly valuing the working paper presented by Dr. Emad Eddien Hussein, the conference concluded by recommending that Dr. Hussein's paper would be put into effect by drawing up a comprehensive program to be presented to participant entities in the future, given that sustainability is an outcome of the desired results of the EFQM Excellence model.
